Iphone 5: The Next Generation Of Apple Products

iPhone 5 rumours are flying thick and fast already. Will there be a rush release to erase memories of the iPhone 4's antenna problems? Will the 5th generation iPhone deliver ultra-fast mobile internet? Will it ever end up on Verizon in the US?

Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone this summer, and new reports describe it as a "completely redesigned handset" as well as a "total rethink from a design standpoint."

To start, the iPhone 5's internals will be different - the device will run on a new, combined CDMA/GSM/UTMS chipset from Qualcomm, which will support both AT&T and Verizon in the U.S., as well as other carriers worldwide - perhaps even an expanded lineup, as would now be possible. Along with the iPad 2, this chipset change represents the transition away from Infineon as the iPhone and iPad chipset maker. Going forward, Qualcomm will make the chips for all Apple mobile devices.

The Apple company has acquired Swedish company, Polar Rose, known for its mobile face recognition technology FaceLib among other similar products.

If you're thinking about buying the iPhone 4, you'll be better off waiting for the iPhone 5 instead, as it should be coming out really soon this year.

Here are some of the expected features:

• The new iPhone 5 is expected to have Face Recognition Security so that you don't have to worry about other people stealing your phone and trying to use it... That is, unless they steal your face too.


• Video Chat on a 4G network instead of a slow 3G one
  Much nicer overall body design of the phone. It's going to be even thinner and have a shiny black piece.


• Shatter Resistant and Scratch Resistant Screen.


• The lowest model will come with 32G of space and 64G of memory. I'll be able to store my whole computer on the lowest model of the iPhone 5. Yippeee for me.


• Longer Battery Life - Up to 14 Hours of Talk Time On The 3G and 7 Hours on the 4G. With 14 hours of talking to my girlfriends, I'm only going to have 10 hours to sleep.


• HD Audio - The quality of sound is going to be extra crisp.


• Built In GPS - You'll never get lost or have to download one of those stupid GPS apps.

In summary If the iPhone 5 is an evolutionary step like the move from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 3GS then we'd expect the price to stay more or less the same, although in the UK higher VAT rates may well mean a higher price tag.

Now that the iPhone 4 is official; the direction that will take the iPad has become clearer. Steve Jobs even gave us some clues about what will probably iPad 2.

Cameras

First, it is clear that the next iPad will be a front camera. Steve said that Apple "sold tens of millions of FaceTime devices this year so there will be many people to speak with " But uh, Steve! The iPhone 4 Is not currently the only device with FaceTime? Unless the application will soon be installed on other devices? Hmmm?

This does not confirm a new iPad provided with front camera out for the end of the year, even though with Apple we have to wait. But later in the spring, when the iPad will be one year, there will certainly an iPad with at least one front camera.

Top screen

The new high density screen "Retina" of the iPhone 4 should logically be on the iPad too. Otherwise what would look the iPad next to the beautiful iPhone 4 high resolution in the Apple Store?

A quick calculation on a corner of sheet allows us to determine that an iPad with the same pixel density as the iPhone 4 should have a resolution of 2660 × 1774 pixels. Fantastic. And terribly unlikely. Because it seems too cumbersome for the processor A4, even in a more swift. But the guys in Cupertino may find a happy medium for pussyfoot (You decide which is which).

Memory

What can they still add more? Memory and a faster processor, probably, even if the iPad does not really seem to need to now. But with the advent of multitasking iOS4 in June, the small amount of RAM embedded in the Apple Tablet may be more noticeable.

So when the iPad 2 will out with his camera and its high density screen, you can always buy your iPad 1 on eBay or Amazon.

Google Image Search on iPhone has a new look

A couple of cool new changes on Google Image Search make searching for images on your iPhone better than it was.

Google recently changed the look of their homepage and search results and I'm sure all of you must have noticed that by now. But it's not just the desktop that the changes have been made on but on the mobile as well. While searching for some important images on Google Image Search on my iPhone, I noticed this rather interesting new change which I though I must share with you. I'm sure sooner or later you'll stumble upon it yourselves but in case you haven't yet, well, you saw it here first!

As you can see, the thumbnails for search results are now closely packed with hardly any gap between them giving them a tiled look. If you scroll down you'll see larger forward and backward buttons with the page numbers in between so you can jump directly. But what you won't notice immediately is that you can actually swipe horizontally on the grid of icons to move between the search pages.This means you don't necessarily have to scroll down and use the forward backward buttons and you can move around as if you are in some gallery application on your phone. The next page of the search results is automatically loaded so when you scroll to it the image thumbnails are ready.

When you click on one of these images, they now open full screen. On top you can see buttons to go back to the search results or view the image in full size. Below is the name and URL of the site the image is from and its resolution and size. You can click on it to go to the original site. The top and bottom bar disappear from view after some time, so the image is in full focus. In this view the images are pixelated as they are basically stretched from their thumbnail view. Just like in the search results you can swipe on the images to move to the next or previous one. Since they are just thumbnails they take no time at all to load and it feels like you are browsing images saved on your phone.

These are minor changes but they really do make a difference to the way you search. I  must say I really liked this new changes and Google has done a pretty good job on it. I would like to know what you think of this new feature though. Do leave us a comment below.
